In this situation, Karnataka government got it tested directly. The government said the report will be handed over to the Centre. Karnataka Civil Supplies Minister Rizwan Arshad revealed this at a press conference in Bengaluru. 63 petrol samples from different parts of the state were examined.

The minister said 99 percent of vehicles plying on Indian roads are not manufactured to suit petrol with more than 20 percent ethanol. The minister also observed that ethanol blending causes unexpected losses of more than Rs 62,000 to users.
